40th Birthday Cake

Here is a 40th Birthday cake.  Normally we get to photograph the cake at home but this one had to travel to Ocean City so the picture was taken on-site.  The numbers are edible white chocolate and this cake debuted Skip's new marshmallow fondant!  Everything on the cake (except for the base) is edible.

The Hon Princess

Deb's party was a great success and ended with some unintended nudity (you know who you are, cute ass). Here is the cake, almost 4 feet high!

Syrupent

For Sarah's wonderful Mexican fiesta last night, Skip made a great Viva Pinata cake of the snake Syrupent. It's a huge cake. At the end of the party only a part of the tail was gone. Now it has gone to a better place in the land of Deb and Keith. You can see more of Skip's cakes here.

New Cake - Pumpkin

I'm sure this picture doesn't represent the size of the cake at all, but it is pretty huge. It was originally going to be a jack-o-lantern cake but it came out so realistic-looking that we decided to just keep it simple. A jack-o-lantern cake will be coming soon...

New Cake - Witch Hat

I was worried that the pictures wouldn't do justice to this cake due to the great dark purple, but they seem to have turned out OK.

Here's Skip's latest, a Topsy Turvy made for my sister's birthday. This cake will be on his new business cards.

Skip's Favorite Cake

I wanted to link to Skip's first Little Mermaid cake in the last post and after searching realized I had never actually posted a picture of it. Skip made this cake for my niece's 6th birthday and it is his favorite cake. I agree.

It is so tall that it did not fit in the back of our hybrid SUV fully assembled. The only part of the cake Skip didn't make from scratch are the little pearls in the treasure chest on the middle layer.

The Little Mermaid again

Call me crazy, but it seems that The Little Mermaid is a popular theme for birthday cakes. Happy 10th birthday to Amber!

Oh yeah, Skippy had both of these cakes due this morning.

Here it is!

So sorry for the wait....
This is a rare 4 picture post. It's too hard to see detail with just the one picture. The cake is so tall that it didn't fit in the back of our Ford Escape Hybrid. We had to take the top layer off.

The party!

Yesterday's Birthday party for my 3 year old nephew was a lot of fun. Of course he's a 3 year old so the graciousness of receiving presents wasn't quite there but eh, he's 3. The adults had a lot of fun playing the Nintendo Wii and I found that my bowling curve is as good as ever! Here is some footage of the cake cutting. My Mom asked to make sure I took footage of Skip and myself. Skip is cutting the cake and if you look really closely you can see me wave to the camera.

The cake!

Here is the cake Skippy made for my nephew's 3rd birthday. In the next few weeks he's making a camouflage cake and a Little Mermaid cake with (hopefully) blown sugar bubbles and everything!
